Assisted suicide bill, mp's says NO !
I had a feeling that they would, because mp's are so preoccupied trying to look as if they are doing the right thing and they do so without thinking.
I have no problem with people who have 100% less than a year to live who are in torturous pain ending their life, why would I ?.
Thoughts silvousplaits.

I suppose they are wedded to the cut and thrust of vigorous public debate - rather like we are on here.

Seems it only becomes complicated when people introduced spirituality into the debate - the gods will nonsense.

I like the idea of people suffering through pain and indignity, because I am an enlightened person.

Correct, Mr Polite.

Difficult one but seeing as humans as a whole cant be trusted not to be scumbags it is probably the right decision

I keep reading this as "Assisted suicide pill etc..."

The old bifocals must be playing up.

Humans are not farm animals.

Most of them, anyway.

Re: Assisted suicide bill, mp's says NO !
Humans overcomplicating things as usual and wrongly viewing themselves as more than eating, breeding, fighting lumps of meat.

We see the issue with crystal clarity when it comes to sick pets and farm animals.

Chalky

It's not about do-gooders or jumped up MPs. Nor is it just about individual choice or being in pain. It's more complicated than all that.

Totally the wrong decision.Jumped up MPs and do gooders make me sick.People should have a choice. You wouldnt leave an animal in pain and suffering. And yes i do speak from experience.

The original post is bollocks in my humble opinion. If you actually watched any of the debate on this bill it was, for a change, very thoughtful. There is no "right" answer. On balance I think the correct decision was made.

Not sure that's entirely true. There are many reasons why someone may want to consider it, not just the pain aspect.

It's an incredibly difficult dilemma and there's no easy or single answer to it.

If someone's quality of life is so degraded that they want to call it quits, then the politicians (and anyone else, for that matter) should butt the fuck out!

It begs the question that if you don't own your life then who does?

Hmm.

Think if i were fucked, I'd just find out the name of one of the pricks who voted no and throw myself in front of their car, so that they could live with the thought of killing me for the rest of their lives.

Out of touch dinosaurs.

Religious pressure groups get their way but surprised by scale of majority in a 'free' vote. MPs out of touch or the problem of not living in a truly secular society?

If they've seen Terry Pratchett's documentary and still say no, they are cunts of the highest order. The Swiss have a working model that is just fine, and Dr Death-proof.

I'd happily assist an MP in committing suicide. Fucking parasites.

Impossible to get a hospital appointment for months, let alone a bed in central London.

Most beds I understand are occupied by elderly mentally ill. I can see mass euthanasia if this was allowed.
